What a PPL PRS licence would cost you

These are PPL PRS's own published example prices, not our estimates. A PPL PRS licence covers all commercially released music; a RadioB2B subscription covers only the music in our catalogue. Pick the kind of business you run and compare the licence you would otherwise need against a single RadioB2B subscription.

PPL PRS published example, February 2026.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure on the left is a published PPL PRS example, taken from pplprs.co.uk and current as of February 2026, with VAT at 20 percent added so you see the cash cost. Your own price depends on audible floor area, seat numbers, staff numbers, opening hours and how the music reaches the room, and a business that streams rather than switching on a radio sits on a higher tariff than several of these examples. A licence can be backdated to cover the period a venue was playing music without one. Treat this as a comparison, not a quote, and use the PPL PRS calculator for your own figure.

Run every room from one screen

Everything the plan includes, driven from one dashboard: zone by zone scheduling, your own announcements, staff accounts, and playback on hardware you already own.

Dayparting scheduler

Build a different program for every hour and every day of the week, per location.

Your own announcements

Upload promos and specials, then drop them into the rotation at the times you choose.

Gapless and volume matched

Tracks crossfade with no dead air, locations stay in sync, and levels never jump between songs.

Keeps playing when the internet drops

The player buffers ahead and falls back to a cached queue through router reboots and outages.

Plays on hardware you already own

Casts straight to the Sonos system you already have, and to Chromecast and AirPlay. Nothing to buy and nothing to install.

Music video channels for your screens

Scheduled visual channels for lobbies and waiting areas, on the same scheduler as your audio.

Staff accounts and usage reports

Give managers their own logins, review activity per location, and export CSV reports.

No app required

Just a web browser, on any laptop, tablet or phone, and the stations also open directly in VLC and on Sonos.

Programmed for the room it plays in

Stations are built around venue type and time of day, so a breakfast service and a late bar never sound like the same playlist on shuffle.

Pricing

A price for your trade. Every station. No renegotiation.

A bar, a salon and a surgery do not pay the same: your price is set by your type of business, then stays fixed. It does not scale with floor area, occupancy or opening hours.

Questions owners ask first

Still unsure whether this covers your situation? Send us the details and we will answer within one business day. Our music licensing guide works through the costs and the law in full.

Ask a question

Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm UK time.

Yes, with the right licence for the music you play. Our music sits outside the PRS for Music and PPL repertoires, because every right that exists in the catalogue is represented exclusively, in the United Kingdom and worldwide, by RadioPRO Ltd, a UK collective management organisation. RadioB2B gives you a Music Licence Certificate covering public performance at your venue, as long as ours is the only music you play.
A single RadioB2B subscription, provided our music is the only music you play. See how the routes compare in alternatives to PPL and PRS for Music. Every right that exists in the catalogue is represented exclusively, in the United Kingdom and worldwide, by RadioPRO Ltd, a UK collective management organisation, and none of it is registered with PPL or PRS for Music, so neither PPL nor PRS for Music has a repertoire claim. For a fixed yearly price set by your type of business, from £79 for an office to £249 for a nightclub, you get the full station library and a certificate anyone can verify by QR code.
No. Consumer streaming plans are licensed for personal use and their terms of service prohibit commercial playback. Playing them in a venue is an unlicensed public performance under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and a rights holder can seek damages, an account of profits, costs and an injunction. We answer this in detail in can I play Spotify in my business.
No. There is no small premises exemption in the UK. The two provisions that came closest, sections 67 and 72(1B)(a) of the Act, were both repealed, so floor area, loudspeaker counts and whether the sound arrives by radio or by playlist make no difference to whether you need permission. Our music licensing guide works through it in full.
Show them your certificate, or let them scan the QR code on it, which opens a live page confirming your licence status. It states in writing that the music you play sits outside the PPL and PRS for Music repertoires. Most of our customers print it and keep it near the register.
Yes. One login controls every site. You can add or block staff accounts, review activity per location, export CSV reports, change playlists, set dayparting and push announcements to all sites at once. Groups above 15 locations get bespoke pricing, so get in touch.
Everywhere you want music, anything with a web browser and speakers works: a laptop, a tablet or an existing sound system. No app is required and nothing needs installing. The player casts straight to Sonos, Chromecast and AirPlay, and the stations are plain audio streams, so anything that plays a stream will do, including VLC. No hardware to buy from us.
It ends quietly. Nothing charges automatically, because no card is taken at signup. If you want to keep listening, pick an annual or monthly plan and pay by card, bank transfer or PayPal. If you decide not to, your access simply stops.
